This, a million million times, this. I am always skeptical of anyone who can’t actually articulate a logic behind their position. It’s one of the reasons I don’t bother having political discussions (read: arguments) with most of my family any more. Their entire line of reasoning is: Republicans good, Democrats bad; doesn’t matter what the two parties actually believe (they’re always shocked when I point out that the official GOP position is no abortion ever and the right to discriminate against gay people), they are Team R all the way.

The analogy between the support of the Republican Party and the way someone supports their sportsball team is great. And Trump is testing to see who wins, politics or sportsball.
