I know people who will use them prior to going on vacation to Southern climes. They say they don’t burn that way because “they’ve built up a base”.

That sort of makes sense to me—I prefer sunscreen, it’s cheaper and no tan-lines.

“Tan don’t burn—use Coppertone!”

Some years ago, my mother and I spent some time with seldom-scene relatives in Los Angeles.

It was pretty funny. We were shades, and shades, I mean a LOT paler than the LA relatives.
