So I do hope that down the road, there will be a chance to fact check some of these things publicly. Because I do feel that both the liberal and the conservative commenters on this blog and those who are a mix are in principle commited to accept reasonably sourced facts.

Agreed. I’m very interested in seeing what comes out about the Bush administration in the future, just as a matter of course. I’m especially curious about where things went so far out of whack. As I said, they had the country behind them in the immediate aftermath of 9/11 and from my point of view, threw it all away.

Speaking of things that are out of whack, the ODS I’ve seen since the election last year, and which is manifested in groups like the Oath Keepers is just beyond anything I’ve seen since Clinton was in office. It’s personal against Obama in an almost visceral way, and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make me nervous.

It’s one thing to disagree with Obama on policy or on principle. That’s all well and good, and heck, I know I’ve disagreed with things he’s done since taking office and I voted for him. It’s another to talk about revolution or about overthrowing a dictatorship or some of the more outlandish things being said about the guy. That’s not even counting the racist stuff, which is just repulsive.

Honestly? I just wish these people would take a history course or read a few books. Calling him a Nazi, a Communist, a Fascist, *and* a radical Muslim all at the same time makes no sense. At least pick one and stick with it, you know?
