Given the two moments we’re constantly told about showing her as a brilliant Speaker (holding the line on SS privatization and the ACA vote), Pelosi has struck me more as an enforcer than a leader. She is great at pistol-whipping the caucus into line and keeping them from straying, but there’s really not a lot examples of her turning public opinion in the party’s favor.
She is very cautious. That is fine as far as it goes, but yeah, she does not use her bully pulpit to rally dems and the public. Keven Kruze on twitter has been hammering that point relentlessly.
