Can’t you just concede that the voters had some obligation to actually research? I’m sorry but if the Dem nominee was regarded as weak on a key issue to me, I’d look into it any way I could to verify its accuracy. And you know what? I’ve actually done that since Tim Kaine was characterized as being anti-abortion when he first ran for state wide office. And I do see Mello’s 100% PP rating. I also see that the head of NARAL criticized him and that he also had a 0% from PP other years.

No I cannot concede it. There were in fact Democratic leaning sites and people (Daily Kos, and this one after I endorsed Mello for election) who influenced voters from outside the state with faulty information.

Where do the vast majority of voters get their information? The news media. If the news media is not reporting factual information (The New York Times and the Iraq War and breathless reporting on Hillary Clinton’s E-mails come to mind), how many voters even know where to look up things like legislative records?

I have enough trouble finding where people on my local school board stand, and I know every one of them.
