It would degenerate into a full-on war inside of about three minutes. Any movement as wild and unruly as the collection of beliefs, attitudes, and ideologies grouped under the heading of Conservatism would collapse into nothingness under the weight of its own internal disagreements and contradictions. And I’m a conservative writing this.

That’s why I wanted a collection of essays. From a limited number of people. We are, in my opinion, coming to a pivotal point for the GOP and something needs to happen. There is currently a huge lack of ideas, a vacuum even. From an ideological standpoint nothing is happening, and this in the face of some rather serious problems facing the country (what will happen to the dollar when it comes under pressure in the next 10-15 years) and the planet (climate change, energy crisis and so on). At the same time society is undergoing huge changes while gigantic markets are opening up. This should be a time ripe for ideological debate, innovation and discussion. Instead it’s… well… let’s just say nothing interesting is happening really.
