Now that you mention it, I did see Abyss.

But while enjoying the technical aspects of the movie, I couldn’t get involved, until the white rat breathing oxygenated fluorocarbon scene.

I remember that scene, too, particular the reaction of the divers fighting not to inhale the liquid and then looking surprised and relieved when they didn’t drown.

I don’t remember anyone explaining how they got the stuff back out of their lungs again, though.
