Yes, he did not run in ‘76. I think you didn’t catch my drift. Kennedy was so unpopular as an ‘established’ Washington insider of a more than a little hated American power family that he became a tool in a Carter speech. Everyone knew Kennedy and his problems. Many Democrats didn’t like him. Carter played on all of that.
