Thoughtful indeed. According to the National World War II Museum, 496,777 of the 16 million Americans who served in World War II were alive in 2018, though that number dwindles every day. The very last remaining super-centenarians among them will probably hang on until about 2035.

I have the same thoughts about the holocaust. Not having any survivors makes it easier for deniers to be assholes. We have no choice but to study history and to remember.
