It’s not even close to the same situation, but Nixon was prez when he left Washington. When Ford took the oath they radioed the plane, and the call sign changed from “Air Force One” to “26000” (The tail number of the plane).

And didn’t AF1 pilots use the call sign “Eagle Heavy” when they slipped into Iraq for Thanksgiving?

True I had forgotten that, but the heavy designation refers to the plane weight for Info on following inbound flights due to wake turbulence. (see, I did learn a thing or two being a Navy air traffic controller LOL)
