I think the mission in Afghanistan is to control the mines. It might be the most strategic location on the planet and we’re not going anywhere until someone is running the mines. It doesn’t matter who, besides the Taliban gets the money what matters is that the rare earth magnets, lithium, precious metals, etc, sitting in the ground work their way into the market to help high tech industries.
