Conservatives have opposed the idea of a National ID card as long as it has been suggested.
On voting, they donāt want to make it easier to vote (except where they have a lock on government, like my state with mail voting).
The argument is everything from ānumber of the Beastā to āexcessive government overreachā to āthe government is tracking us.ā
I am just trying to make the point that any of the measures they are promoting are just grandstanding and posturing or even more sinister in nature.
Nobody on right or left would go for such a thing, even though it would be the cheapest and most effective solution, and like universal health care, something that almost every other civilized nation already does and has been doing for decadesā¦
