The Somerset v Stewart decision was rendered in 1772. The idea that slavery had no basis in English or Welsh common law worried a lot of slave owners in the colonies. It wasn’t something that got a lot of publicity in history classes, but it was very much real.
Gotcha. The only things I really recall are the obvious- Stamp Acts, Intolertable Acts, etc. Another thing though was the Proclamation of 1763 which I believe banned colonial settlement west of the Appalachians.
