Isn’t it nice that so many on the right were willing to help Dowd promote this by calling Wilson a hero? Is she right? No. Is calling Wilson a hero right? No.

Yes, it is nice NOT. There is a way to play upon and move forward with the statement or sentiment without falling in love or canonizing a flawed man. Assuming that Wilson’s outburst was an emotional reaction and spur of the moment, that sentiment (not the actual act, which was bad) is very valid and can be moved forth. That takes effort and sustained thought.

Instead, many just go ‘Joe’s My Hero!’ and consider that the most effective means to support their beliefs. That’s rife with risk and much less effective than moving forth ideas and concepts, and it’s also intellectually lazy.
