Germany and Japan were seen as understandable (and “correct” in their assessment of racial hierarchy and the right of developed nations to seize labor and resources) by the victors, and thus as usable material, versus the incomprehensible masses of colonized peoples proposing that the existing hierarchy was arbitrary, and the Soviets who they hadn’t realized were just a different kind of colonizer.

You are leaning into a thesis that Europeans are uniquely evil colonial motherfuckers. The fact is that humans are motherfuckers, and strong motherfuckers never miss the chance to prove that to weaker motherfuckers.
