Unfortunately that is true. I thought McCain could have handled that situation better perhaps but he at least defended Obama’s personal character. Romney and Trump would have never done that. McCain was the last GOP nominee that could actually be a decent person. Not so with Mitt and definitely not so with Trump.

One of the reasons I first supported McCain over Obama was his decency and tendency to put country over party. My support vanished once he chose Palin as his running mate. Granted, he was probably manipulated into choosing her, but that and the Keating 5 scandal were already too many hits against his overall character. In the end, I am glad I voted for Obama and not McCain.
