i mentioned it yesterday

a committee member must be a house member AND has to be a member of the Democratic caucus or the Republican conference.

if the house R’s get savvy and boot Cheney/Kinzinger out of the conference, then they would lose their 1/6 committee seats

sure, they could then join the Dem caucus. They dont have to register dem to do this - but the optics would be miserable going forward..

“We’re caucusing with the Democrats for the length of this commission. We feel we have a duty higher than standing on the same side of the aisle as those that supported the insurrection and refuse to prevent it from happening again.”

Any damage that is going to be done to them has been done by accepting being on this committee. Getting thrown out by the rest of their party isn’t going to change that.
