re: #38 b_sharp

I have 2 1-TB SATA 6GB in a RAID0 configuration so I’m going to shrink that partition to 100GB and then clone it to my SATA 6GB 120GB SSD. The trouble is, I have >600GB of data on the RAID and no partition to move most of it to, so I’ll have to piss around with shrinking and expanding partitions.

I haven’t seen a big difference in speed between SATA 3GB and 6GB yet but I’m not using 6GB rated cables, so that may be the problem.

I was reading that there not much difference between a 6GB and 3GB cable. I also think that the 6GB gets throttled down anyway and really goes down to around 5GB. Not sure yet since I’m learning a lot of this new stuff right now. But I can say for certain that this set up is lightening fast compared to my now ancient and dead machine. Think the capacitors blew. They were bulging and leaking a bit. The i5 isn’t top of the line but I was on a budget. Would consider an i7 in the future and then bumping up the video card from a Nvidia Geforce 450S to one of the 550s.
