I’ve heard this stat for years, and I’ve also heard that it’s bullshit. (the 50 percent number).

It’s not half of all people; it’s half of all marriages. The Rush Limbaughs and Elizabeth Taylors of the world don’t have to be anywhere near a majority of people to be a majority of marriages.
