I spend a lot of time on this hobbyhorse, but I will jump back on it again: when people rely on their FB feed for news on anything other than what their friends and family are up to, and when “trending on Twitter” became a news item in and of itself, I began to fear for the future of the Republic.

Now we have Mark Zuckerberg testifying before Congress and a President who expresses his policy initiatives in the form of Tweets.

In my little vvillage, no one (including myself) is on twitter, and i think I can count the fb users on the fingers of two hands. They’re still very much evening news. Sometimes it’s like being back in the 70s or 80s.
