We either respect our own national symbols and identity ourselves or we don’t.
I don’t agree that it’s a national symbol of such importance that we need to destroy the mosques on it or otherwise prevent Muslims from accessing it.
I think that the national identity of Israel is in the people of Israel, just as I think that the national identity of America is in Americans, not in the liberty bell, or the statue of liberty, or any other symbol. I think it’s in the Constitution and the ideals of our land, but not in physical objects. They’re not very important to me.
It is such a simple point that I am shocked it requires any explanation.
It doesn’t need any explanation. I just disagree with you that destroying the mosques and fully occupying the Temple Mount and restricting access are necessary for Israeli national identity.
