As far as the gorilla went, he probably viewed the child as nothing more than an interesting object or toy. (He didn’t directly attack the child, or he would have killed him instantly.)

Could be, but you can’t take the risk of doing nothing (or doing something too slowly) in such a situation. Hence: it’s just an animal. Humans take priority.
