Yeah, the nationalization of local and state politics has fed into the Senate races.

On the other hand, the Dem candidate for county executive here essentially nationalized his election and defeated the GOP incumbent (who was a pretty moderate guy in any event).

Right. Split tickets appear to be more and more a thing of the past. What happened in Maryland and Massachusetts was interesting but Hogan I think A) ran a positive campaign for the most part, B) his reputation as a moderate is legit, and C) Jealous was a bad candidate.
