I’m not disputing that but I think Ike worried about that possibility in the post WWII era when we had just fought a totalitarian one party state. I agree completely that it would have been better had Ike ran as a Democrat. I’m just giving my two cents on why I think Ike ran as a Republican.

Oh I agree. And “what if” speculation might be good for an alternative history book, but not so much in politics.
