I think that you need to reframe this though. Forget about the existence of lefties or righties for a minute and just look at the consequences of doing nothing.

Once, if, people with sense about economics get really real about these things, then perhaps we can do this better and more scientifically than the Lefties. But if you walk out of the debate in a humpf, well you have taken yourself out of the discussion.

The solutions need to start in what is real - as in natural, as in laws of physics. Once we understand the options we can talk about human ways to prepare that make the most sense.

The problem is that all the left will do is scream and obstruct. They never debate, preferring istead to call us evil. That’s part of the reason I’m sometimes pessimistic that anything can be done. The gulf of distrust is too wide. If such a gulf cannot be bridged, then there is no non-violent solution to be had. Any ideas on how to bridge it?
