I agree that he seems to be coming to some realizations, ideas and facts that he’s never allowed himself to absorb before. He seems to have increased respect for some individuals in the military. But he still tried to pawn off the war injured on private insurance. That still galls me.

I’m still not clear on that, I think one element at least was he was trying to suggest that the government support the use of private enterprise to address the issues, which might even be OK, presumably the government would still reimburse.
