This is seeming more and more like the Trayvon Martin shooting, where the shooter claimed things were “dark” and so they acted out of “fear,” but when you start putting the puzzle pieces together things don’t fit. Even without their testimony, the fact that her story went from “door locked, key wouldn’t fit” to “door was unlocked” and now “door unlocked, slightly ajar” in the space between the initial reports and the official affidavit shows a deliberate effort by the DPD to find a story that will work for a jury.

What i have been unable to find, maybe someone else has, is any reports indicating if the cop expected there would be anyone in her apartment. This might line up with the reports of loud knocking and demanding someone open the door. Maybe the door was locked.
