This also runs the risk of showing that the family lore was wrong. Genealogists who have looked into it haven’t found a smoking gun, they found one document that shows her great-great-great-great grandmother may have been Cherokee making her 1/64th Cherokee, but even that is tenuous, so why get the DNA test and potentially give her opponents something else with which to attack her.
I’ve deliberately avoided doing genealogy research because I’m afraid some of the “family lore” might be grandpa’s bullshit and/or jokes. I like the stories he told, I do not want to chance finding contradictory evidence.
