An outreach program is a two way road the immigrant community also needs to learn things of its host country. One of the very important lessons is that women are the equals of men and the second that the police force has to be respected. There is no getting around it.
The police garb and its hat that comes with it is a uniform and a respect the police also shows to the citizens, all alike. Everyone is equal under the rule of law and no one is special and/or deserves special treatment, not even differing cultures or religions. In a western country that is, of course.
