re: #625 Sharmuta

Right- because even mentioning that someone might be a creationist is an attack in your book. You have a hyper-inflated sense of what constitutes an attack on people of faith. I don’t even think you care about the sensitivities of people of faith- just one particular division. You sure didn’t care about Muslim sensitivities when you made a joke about the recent beheading victim. Should I call you a hypocrite? No- you’re just too busy pushing the DI talking point that calling a person a creationist is an attack on Christianity. Since that’s mostly what you’ve spent your time on LGF discussing, you look like you have an agenda.

First off…I am Jewish. Not particularly religious but grew up in conservadox environs.
Agreed that mentioning someone is a creationist is not necessarily an attack. But we are talking about YOUR comment. YOUR comment clearly was meant to be (of course after explaining to me how no such thing occurs) How now was your comment meant in another way? Was it a compliment? On a thread about kooky conspirators about Obama’s birth certificate out of the blue you lumped them in with creationists. (Not creationists that want to change the public school curriculum but all people of faith that think that a Deity might have had a hand in creation).
It would appear that it is you that is fixated on the creationism issue.

My comment ” I will now happily go back to reading about folks trying to portray Muslims in a more positive light by beheading their wives.”

Read the comment again….to whom am I referring? Muslims in general or the people who wish to portray Muslims in a more positive light by committing acts of violence?
A) I thought it was pretty obvious to whom I was referring. THE FOLKS…or in this case the gentleman who was the object of the thread Clearly your personal prejudices are showing again. The joke was not that Muslims can be shown in a fine light . They can! I have trained with and work alongside many of them as friends at work. The humor was (as I assume Charles meant) that it was funny that someone who would hope to portray a group in a more positive light as their representative would go ahead and behead someone and feed into the worst stereotypes. It hardly portrays anyone in a better light. Once again your biases show…are you really that intolerant?

B)As it was one of the next threads started by Charles it was clearly relevant to me saying…”OK, time to move on”. It was not a comment pulled out of thin air. It was referring to one of the next threads. Your comment on the other hand….seemed to be unrelated to the topic at hand. Again, who is it that is fixated on creationists?

C)I don’t see how in a conversation about creationists and your apparent low opinion of them would lead to you try and link it to murderers who behead people. Is that how low you really feel of people of religion and lump them with people who would behead their wife?

You are beginning to sound like an elitist San Francisco Liberal.
