Do you or other relatives have his discharge papers? I have my dad’s, who lived until I was 26 but never talked about it… it was only from those documents was I able to find out his MOS (cavalryman) and unit (recon Bn, 12 Arm Div).

A couple of those details and it would be possible to figure where he was and what he did (in general terms).

No, I don’t have those, and I don’t believe I have my father’s, but I do have a book my father’s organization printed on their travels and operations. They printed maps and processed photo recon. Some time in North Africa, France, and Germany; sometime, I need to go through my father’s photographs. There are some interesting ones in there. He took pictures of a hangar where the Germans had aircraft hidden, including one of the flying wings, IIRC.
He also got to attend High Holiday services in the Paris Opera House.
