Oh, wait, I do understand. This is an administration that will make the mistakes of Roosevelt during the Great Depression look like minor glitches.

I’m looking at the big picture. In a few years, the US will be building the same sorts of cars the rest of the world drives and that should open up a world market for the big three and make us competitive. There may not be much of a market for 20 MPG Chevy’s outside the US, but there would be for a 35 MPG one.
I’m sure the Saudi’s are less then thrilled about the new standards. I’ll admit, it’s a bitter pill for me to swallow since I’m just the sort of guy to want the impractical 400 HP muscle car.
