The culture of that country is backward and very much ingrained. I suppose that is sadly typical of many nations in that region. I agreed with Obama upping the ante there, but the russians tried straight up brutality and it didn’t subdue the country. We tried something more surgical and humane, but the locals seem unwilling to embrace us either. So what is left?

The inevitable claim that Obama ‘lost’ or ‘bungled’ the war when we leave.
There are no conditions under which we will leave that will be a conventional form of victory. ODS sufferers and various other political opportunists can be counted on to blame Obama for this.
