You have to trust the electorate, otherwise government becomes automatically illegitimate and subject to serious turmoil. At least from my perspective.

The electorate would still be electing the State Legislatures. It would make those races more relevant. Do you even know who your State Rep and Senators are? I honesty don’t. I might recall their name if I heard them. Maybe.
