I wasn’t aware of that. I knew about Operation Paperclip and the scramble for Nazi S&T assets (ie von Braun and his rocket scientists) but I did not know that it extended to non-technical assets.

Reinhard Gehlen was a high ranking Wehrmacht intelligence office who went to work for the West without skipping a beat. He retired as a Lt. General in the West German Army in the 60’s. en.wikipedia.org
