That worked up to a point but them the colonials were getting mowed down in actual battle formations because they lacked the military discipline of the trained redcoats and their German mercenaries. It took a Prussian general to teach them actual warfare.

It says something when even The Patriot, the movie wingnuts like to fantasize as being the absolute truth when it came to the wonders of the militia against the redcoats, still had to acknowledge that militia broke and run when it actually had to meet more than a handful of enemy soldiers at once and scattered like roaches when cannons were involved.
