That seems like a very weak comparison to me. If you are against people being registered to vote because of who they tend to vote for, and that group of people are a social construction that’s a ‘race’, then opposing a group that focusing on registering them to vote is, indeed, racist.

The GOP has an unfortunate history of obstructionism when it comes to minority voting, and the ACORN issue raises it yet again. The GOP really, really, really needs to change the way it deals with minority groups, or it is going to become more and more marginalized over time.

The standard GOP response (not saying in any way this is yours) is that blacks don’t realize that the Democrats are just using them, which is paternalism writ large.
