re: #60 Killgore Trout

Simply by repeating words and ideas people can be influenced.

Though we like to think of ourselves as independent beings, in reality H. sapiens is a tribal animal. What our fellow tribe members do around us affects us in many ways.

That indeed is what the Florida GOP and every other group are all about. They intuit, even though they may not be able to articulate, that simply discussing cohabitation in everyday life as “normal” among people will indeed lead “cohabitation” to be seen by the tribe as a normal state of affairs (which frankly, biologically, it is, religious control of sex being a phenomenon of organized religion which correlates with the development of hierarchical power structures in early civilizations.)

Madison Ave. depends upon the idea that they can influence the purchasing habits of people merely by exposing people repeatedly to brand names.

We are highly influenced by the words and ideas to which we are exposed - which is why at times in various places groups/government want to burn certain books.

Etc., etc., etc.

Rupert Murdoch knows all this stuff, and has become one of the richer men in the world by putting that knowledge into use.
