The REASON for getting a group like this back into the Church is not for the benefit of the errant clergy. It’s to protect the following that they are gaining. I’ve seen both numbers, 50,000 and 500,000, I think. So, it’s something between those, I guess, of would-be Catholics who are being led astray by this schismatic group.

The Pope is a shepherd. His job is to protect his flock. Neutralizing errant clergy who are moving people in the wrong direction is part of that.
