I’m not enamored of the current legislation, myself. I’m just saying that the language being used to argue it in the public sphere is dishonest and misleading.

What is a cheaper alternative that you feel would be effective?

Deal with it as a one-off and simply set up a basic program to deal with the remainder of those who truly can’t afford insurance. I believe there has already been some estimating in this area and the cost would be 40-60 Billion depending on whether illegal aliens would be included.
