Alabama went for Obama at 38% in 2012. Demographics alone don’t explain that.

Alabama is 25% black, though I don’t know the percentage that vote. So the 38% basically shows that the almost all whites voted for Trump. I think it’s safe to say that demographics explain their vote for Romney. Yes — the women who have now been persuaded to come forth do object to what happened to them personally, but I have no doubt that they would have continued to support Moore if it hadn’t happened to them; My guess is that if the Post had not published the article they would have voted for Moore, despite what happened to them.
