In Indiana it’s a $25 fine, no points and no reporting to your insurance agency. If it’s a state trooper they usually don’t say or ask anything. They’ll just tell you why they pulled you over, hand you a ticket and send you on your way. It’s generally city officers who want to search your vehicle and ask you questions they don’t have the right to ask.

Either you’re well-known around your parts or you’ve really got guts.

Me (not you): “It’s none of your business.”

Cop: “GET OUT OF THE CAR WITH YOUR HANDS UP!”
