I'd go with the 21 I think. .45 GAP is almost a wildcat round. I've seen it for sale in a couple of places, but you aren't going to be able to get ammo at Wal Mart. The only thing that might tempt me is a 37 built on a stainless steel frame. I don't know why they don't have one of these in a 21. That would be ideal.
I read that and thought WTF? a .37? a .21?
Thought maybe you guys had it confused with the AK-48 (49?)

IDF ground troops are in Gaza
IDF ground troops entered Gaza this evening. More to follow.
UPDATE 9:15 PM
Charles Johnson gets it right.
This day was inevitable, ever since Israel’s withdrawal. Now the IDF are going to have to retake territory that’s been heavily armed and booby-trapped, in a densely packed urban environment.
Yes, it was inevitable. Too bad so many people - even on our side - wouldn't listen three and a half years ago.

Of course it's disproportionate! In spite of the media's best efforts, this is not to be viewed as a game of tit-for-tat. It's war: if you ask Hamas, they'd say that it's been an uninterrupted war for 60+ years.

Hamas has to be counting on Lebanon as a template. I think that they are not factoring that Israel learned a lot & won't make the same mistake.
You don't want these people whoopin & hollerin celebrating in the strees of Gaza city, claiming that the drove Israel out. Bad for Israel, bad for us.

That depends on what you do to them when they take to the streets to whoop and holler that they've won. If Israel would use it as an oppertunity to strike, the Hamastinians celebration could turn to tears in a minute or two.

Hey, I'm trying to be positive, here!
My take is that what Obama does will depend entirely on the success of this Israel action.
Obama will "go with the flow", and side with "popular opinion".
If it looks like (or has come to pass) that Israel is successful, I think you'll see some support from Obama.
(the above will be accompanied by re-runs of his speech in Israel)
Otherwise, you'll see the usual pleas and demands for Israel to stop over-reacting.
(this will be accompanied by re-runs of his 'direct diplomacy' primary speeches)

Here's another anti-Israel piece: Not as shrill, but just as short-sighted and idiotic:
Dem leaders out of step with voters on Israel's attack on Gaza
Is there any other significant issue in American political life, besides Israel, where citizens split almost evenly in their views, yet the leaders of both parties adopt identical positions which leave half of the citizenry with no real voice?
Yeah, the bailout, jackass.
Not only does Rasmussen find that Americans generally "are closely divided over whether the Jewish state should be taking military action against militants in the Gaza Strip" (44 percent to 41 percent, with 15 percent undecided), but Democratic voters overwhelmingly oppose the Israeli offensive -- by a 24-point margin
Well, seems to still be a majority of people supporting this so..... shut the hell up? What this idiot doesn't understand is that the 41% are fully represented- by their own leaders. Commies, Nazis, eco-nuts, anti-war extremists all have their own leaders who will tell them what to support and what to oppose. What those leaders need is validation from a major political party, but even with the Democrats moving more and more to the left, it's not going to happen. Most Democrats still know that the far-far left are morons and should not be supported. Then there are those that don't like war, don't know what's really going on over there and how brutal Hamas is, and how awesome Israel is because a certain mass American media keeps them in the dark.
By stark contrast, Republicans, as one would expect (in light of their history of supporting virtually any proposed attack on Arabs and Muslims), overwhelmingly support the Israeli bombing campaign (62 percent to 27 percent)
For lack of better words, fuck you. I don't support any attack on Arabs or Muslims, I support attacks on terrorists. If the IRA had bombed us on 9/11, by God I'd support destroying the IRA, doesn't mean I hate the Irish. I don't care if a terrorist is a white guy with blond hair blue eyes, he's a freaking terrorist and deserves justice. I'm not a Republican and that author's statement really makes me angry. Republicans aren't racists, they aren't fascists, they just realize that a country that has been under attack every year since its creation has the right to defend itself once in awhile. And if it also means taking out a major terrorist group, all the better.

The FMSM may be correct, but not in the way they intended. The CNN talking head was referring to the Palis as David and the Israelis as Goliath.
"Furry" -
Lemmesee Now - +/- 15 Million Jews in the world - AND - about 1.5 Billion Muslims. Seems to me that the Israelis are "DAVID/Daoud" by several orders of magnitude.

The old CIA/Army Special Forces Improvised Munitions Black Book included a how-to on creating dust explosions (which are actually a primitive category of thermobaric munition, about two notches below a FAE). I won't go into details, but it involved any reasonably easily-obtained form of HE and a "cover"; gasoline, flake painter's aluminum, whatever.
Also lighting the fuze and running like hell.

That book has some great stuff, but the techniques can be quite dangerous to the person making such improvised munitions.
It gives you a chance to do some damage and escape from behind enemy lines when you could get killed anyway, but it isn't anything I'd choose to do unless the consequences were worse.

re: #316 WhiteRasta
>"The CNN talking head was referring to the Palis as David and the Israelis as Goliath...."
Typical liberal idiot think. The victim is the aggressor and the aggressor is the victim.
The same way they frame crime stories. "He couldn't help robbing that store, murdering everyone in it, and setting fire to it- he came from a broken home."
Big hooping deal. A cousin of mine came from a one parent home. He's happily married, has two great kids, just retired after thirty in the Air Force, and is getting an office with a view as a development supervisor at Lockheed.
It's not where you're from, it's what you make of what you are. Look at Israel now vs where it was in 1947.
Now look at the "Palestinians".
Israel took a desert and turned it into a garden. With no noticeable help from anybody.
The Palestinians, with the rest of the Islamic world behind them have, in 60 years, accomplished exactly...squat. Except raising their children to hate, to kill, and to celebrate when "infidels" die.
I've said before that culture is the deciding factor, more than anything else. My cousin comes from a culture where who your parents are isn't as important as what you can do. The typical Hamashole comes from a culture where you are expected to avenge a slight to your several-times-great grandpappy's second cousin on his mother's side of the house by killing somebody you don't know from Adam's off ox. And your family will "help" you do it, even (or especially) if it will get you killed in the process.
That's what you get from an entire culture that is not merely "dysfunctional", but sociopathic.
As for the "progressives" over here, as L. Neil Smith once observed, they think failure is romantic. And that success means you cheated. (Unless, of course, you became a "success" by letting them tell you what to do.) By their standards, the fact that the Palestinians have produced nothing but hatred and wanton destruction for two-thirds of a century, coupled with their intense hatred of the West in any form, makes them the de facto "good guys".
This is more of a commentary on the "progressives" than it is on reality, IMHO.
cheers

I've heard "The Anarchists' Cookbook" as only being useful for cooking anarchists. Supposedly, the people who wrote it never tested what they put in the book. I believe it, because they'd probably have been dead before they could finish it.

Historical detail is very helpful, via sub-links within.
Excerpts:
Bethlehem is the traditional birthplace of David, the second king of Israel, and the place where he was anointed king by Samuel.
Between 132-135 the city was occupied by the Romans after its capture during the Bar Kokhba Revolt. Its Jewish residents were expelled by the military orders of Hadrian.
In 637, shortly after Jerusalem was captured by the Muslim armies...
In 1099, Bethlehem was captured by the Crusaders, who fortified it and built a new monastery and cloister on the north side of the Church of the Nativity.

re: #379 Kosh's Shadow
I've heard "The Anarchists' Cookbook" as only being useful for cooking anarchists. Supposedly, the people who wrote it never tested what they put in the book. I believe it, because they'd probably have been dead before they could finish it.
At least the Improvised Munitions Manual had been tested. It was dangerous, but as I said, if the alternative is execution as a spy, at least it gives you a chance.
The major objective of the IMBB (as it was explained to me by a former "Green Beanie" I went through training with) was to act as a "teacher's manual" for SpecOps types forming guerrilla bands in enemy territory. He and I concluded that the authors (JFK Special Warfare Center, Ft. Bragg) were thinking in terms of the Philippine and French Resistance during World War Two.
We both agreed that if occupation of any NATO or SEATO country reached an analogous point in the then-present day, the IMBB would only be of interest to future generations as an historical artifact. By the time a "resistance" could be formed in "occupied territory", the likely backers of same (Us, the British, the Russians on the other side, etc.) would all have one thing in common. I.E., we'd all be glowing in the dark, and sort of... dead.
Our overall conclusion was that the Company and the Special Warfare theorists in the Pentagon were busy trying to figure out how to fight World War Two all over again. (But they'd do it smarter, this time!)
Neither one of us had "high confidence" in their probability of success.
cheers
eon

Some nice photos on The Muqata's blog.
Oh, btw, the hamasholes claim they've killed five IDF soldiers ...
Thank God - if thats true - that the 'hell' they promised to prepare is more like a whimper.
Now really. You would think the IDF would know better than to let these clowns roam loose.
12:39 AM Jpost Reports: Police looking for reporter who defied military censorPolice were searching Saturday night for a foreign reporter working for an Iranian TV network who reported the IDF incursion into Gaza before the military authorized the release of the information to the public.
Also Saturday evening, a reporter for the Lebanese LBC network who was broadcasting near the Gaza Strip said the IDF was moving from Nahal Oz towards the Nezarim junction. The reporter surmised that the military was planning to sever the Gaza Strip in half, effectively isolating Gaza City in an effort to minimize Hamas terrorists' ability to exploit urban areas.
The anchor reportedly stood in a vantage point overlooking the IDF staging grounds and reported military maneuvers.

Who invented the fiction of "proportionate" response anyway? "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth"? That's for civil society, not for the military.
The truth about "proportionate" responses:
"No one ever won a war by dying for his country. You win wars by making the other poor bastard die for his country."
George S. Patton
It's not a fiction. The point of war is to arrive at a better peace, at least from your own point of view. Now almost any peace would be better than a peace which includes daily rocket artillery barrages from Gaza. Still, the best peace would be one in which you didn't have the blood of women and children on your hands. Those who die because they have been chained to Hamas firing positions or ammo depots, their blood is on Hamas' hands. But those who starve? Best to not starve all Gaza just to make Hamas hungry. Hamas will be the last to suffer, and almost certainly international pressure will reach the point that Israel will have to relent, before all of the rest of the Palestinians, and then finally Hamas, are weak from hunger.

Whatever happened about that "shoe-dump" incident on the expressway yesterday? Something about that story raised HUGE red flags in my mind, and yet... people laughed?
Didnt see that story.
You know that in arab culture, to show the sole of your shoe to someone is an insult.

INTERNATIONAL PRESSURE BE DAM-NED! If Hamas thinks they can fire rockets without consequences, let the consequences fall where they may!

The point of war is to cripple the enemies military and political will to continue to fight in order to achieve your (usually political) goals. This is achieved by maximum violence in the least amount of time. Over the long run, this will usually result in fewer casualties on both sides as well as less real property damage.
