part of what got me so worked up was the whole attitude.

I don't get it either. If the phones stopped working, in any office I have ever worked in, you contact the phone company and get them fixed. What did they THINK Landrieu's staff was going to do? I mean, I disliked the ACORN and Planned Parenthood stunts, but you can sort of see what the point was. In this case, I have no idea what he thought he could prove.

Bill Clinton hails Israel aid mission to Haiti
By Haaretz Service
Bill Clinton, the former U.S. president and current UN special envoy to Haiti, told President Shimon Peres on Thursday that he was grateful for Israel's role in aiding victims of the devastating earthquake that rocked the Caribbean island earlier this month.
"Shimon, I don't know what we would have done without the Israeli hospital at Haiti," Clinton told the president during the Davos economic forum in Switzerland on Thursday. "The Israeli hospital was the only operational facility which was able to perform surgery and advanced tests."
"In the name of the aid workers that operated in Haiti, in the name of the people who live there, and on a personal level I want to thank, we all want to thank, Israel from the bottom of our hearts," Clinton said.
In response, Peres said Israel "will be happy" to help in the reconstruction of Haiti

Presuming that they had no intention to actually tap the wires, I presume they were hoping to get some footage of showing a whole bunch of empty circuits, so they could say 'look at all this phone capacity, why didn't they answer calls about healthcare?!' Not the strongest argument, but its an argument anyways.
Either that or they were really gonna cut the access, and make some statement like 'this is why they didn't answer the people about healthcare!'
my theories :p

I think it's reasonably important, as it's a reflection that people think they can do or say almost anything anything these days and get away with it.
Brietbarts complete and planned avoidance of the questions asked is one more aspect of it.
It's like people can just say what ever shit they want and never get called on it, or worse, get kudos for out-right rudeness, obfuscation and revisionist history.
I think these guys were going to bug the phones and try to get political dirt on the Senator or staff.

Wasn't the question.
The question was... what have YOU contributed?
Your whining parallels well the blather over the new Apple iPad. Regardless of the questionable name, when I read the comments on Apple/Mac specific blogs complaining about the device the one thing that becomes clear is how to tell apart the yammering voices of those who are merely benchwarmers and those who have actually produced (something.)
The whiners have a common trait: they all expect to be fed (by a silver spoon if possible) whatever their hearts can desire (though the desires tend to strongly be influenced by what the crowd around them also desire.)
If and when you've ever been on the hot seat to produce something (which I have been, as lead investigator or project manager) one learns real quickly that producing a good/service is different than sitting on the couch playing Monday-morning quarterback.
Don't be a whiner.
If you think the world (or your local subset of it) is not being served properly, open your own service. In this particular case, it would be your own blog.

These aren't "dumb kids"... they are college educated, they've been brought up in the Leadership Institute, YAF and other student orgs. They've read their Alinsky and listened to all the paranoid blather about how supposedly effective his tactics are and decided to try to do him one better.
Of course knowing all that and then trying to record conversations in a sitting senator's office who's on DHS committee is rather dumb now that I think on it more...

OT:
Bill Clinton hails Israel aid mission to HaitiBy Haaretz Service
Too bad Obama couldn't seem to remember that Israel was there:
Maybe I’m Getting Paranoid … About Obama
I've just read the transcript of the president's remarks about Haiti, the ones he made on January 15. He noted that, in addition to assistance from the United States, significant aid had also come from "Brazil, Mexico, Canada, France, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic, among others." Am I missing another country that truly weighed in with truly consequential assistance? Ah, yes. There it is. Right there "among others." Yes, the country to which I refer is "among others," that one....
...So didn't Obama notice? For God's sake, everybody noticed the deep Israeli involvement. I understand that Obama doesn't like Middle East narratives that do not contain "one side and the other side" equal valence. But he couldn't have that here. The Arabs don't care a fig, not for their impoverished and backward own, and certainly not for strangers. That's why their presence in Haiti amounted to a couple of bucks from Saudi Arabia and maybe from some other sheikhs. An afterthought: Who would want Arab participation in the rescue effort? This was serious work and dangerous work. Amateurs weren't welcome.
Yes, I think that the labors of the Israelis were edited out of Obama's speech, either by his speechwriters (who have made dissing Israel their forté) or by his own oh-so-delicate but dishonest censoring mechanism.

I have not been happy at how Obama's been acting on Israel policy. WHAT THE F* IS THAT? In support of the last Administration, even if Bush's handling of Isarel wasn't so great (what pres really is), it wasn't this! This is terrible.

But entering a federal building with the intent of vandalizing the communications system isn't a minor offense. This will have been an expensive prank when all is said and done.
I don't think that is what they meant. People have been complaining that when they call her office they get forwarded to voicemail. I think they were going to show that the office was not taking the calls at all. That they were dumping all the calls.
There are better ways to do it. I am not defending him. However it makes more sense.

"Senator Landrieu believes this feeble explanation is a clear and calculated effort to divert attention away from the fact that his client stands accused of a federal crime that could land him in prison for up to 10 years," said Landrieu Press Secretary Rob Sawicki, in a statement to TPMmuckraker.
Sawicki added: "The fact remains that they perpetrated a false identity scheme on building security by posing as telephone workers and attempted to manipulate the phones in her office. The only people these four individuals have embarrassed are themselves and their families."

What I recall seeing here is people asking for others to back off of their wild speculation in the heat of the moment, as conflicting facts were trickling in. Three shooters, two shooters, one shooter dead with two on the run. One shooter dead and a second in custody, and so on.
I don't recall seeing anyone here say that Maj. Hassan should be given the benefit of the doubt, though.

I think Andrew just needs to STFU and get a lawyer.
That should have been his plan from the moment that O'Keefe was arrested. Just keep your mouth shut, let the case play itself out, then comment on it after the fact.

Also Breitbart just looks unintelligent if you look in his eyes.

No Wiretapping makes NO sense. What makes sense is a gotcha video of her office not answering her phone, on purpose.
Not answering phones that don't work? That would be a some video.

Breitbart didn't deserve to be interviewed on MSNBC. He showed no respect for the anchor, which is weird 'cause he has utter contempt for people who work for MSNBC, why does he even give an interview when he thinks they're all Obamunists/the enemy/liars/cheats/thieves? All he's doing here is making the right wing look bad, and the left laughs, ridicules, and points out what whackos these people are. Andrew Breitbart, STFU!
It'll be really embarrassing for Breitbart if O'Keefe is convicted and sent to prison. I'll bet Andrew will defend O'Keefe, saying things like "He was railroaded by a communist justice system, he's a political prisoner, Pelosi had him put away!" or some other such nonsense.
Should be entertaining, nonetheless.

Are you allowed to post the name Charles anymore?
No and for doing it you will hearby be stoned to death!

Who exactly is supposed to look like a fool in this clip. Shuster looks like a pale shadow of anything even remotely resembling respectable journalism, and Breitbart is defending a freelance contributor to his website who broke in and tried to tamper with a Senator's phone system because it wasn't wiretapping?
One suggestion for both of these idiots, just give me the facts on a story and let me decide. Both of you are morons.

No....That is not what i am saying.... please listen carefully...
O'Keefe might have suspected they were sending all calls to voice mail. Dumping all calls. Pretending that they were getting so many calls that only some were not being answered when ALL calls were not being answered.
He goes in.... stands next to the phone. Notes that it is not ringing and not being used. Calls the phone from his cell phone. Gets voice mail.
Gotcha.... "Senator not interested in hearing from voters" video.
It is only rumour that he was planning to disconnect, or make the phone not working.

That's my Andrew....
Never answering a question but asking a question in return. ACORN was convicted by Breitbart on bogus video material and this turd asks a retraction of NBC...
Ass!

I saw clips from the videos, and thought they were shocking. Though I suppose not evidence of any crime. I was surprised to learn that ACORN was never charged with anything.
In what way were the videos bogus?

What's more, one of the four culprits was found a few blocks from the office in posession of eavesdrop devices!
(They don't know it but I bugged O'keefe's lair. This is what I picked up.)
O'Keefe:
"Boy, I wonder what happens if the phones stopped working at that office. "
Basel:
"YEAH MAN! Lest prank that bitch and her office."
Andrew Breitbart:
"Don't worry if you get caught, Watergate Junior. I've got a watertight defence for you!"

The footage was edited to discredit Acorn. Is it any wonder O'keefe never wanted to release the raw footage?

Perhaps a search warrant in connection with the Landrieu-case arrest will uncover that ugly story once and for all.

Not actually true.... AGAIN. Maybe in posession of a Radio receiver. My car has one of those as well. In fact my car has a few of them.
However.... eavesdrop devices would need a TRANSMITTER. and it would have to be in the office with the phones... not in a car blacks away.
