SPLC Lists American Family Association, Family Research Council, Others As Hate Groups

Wingnuts • Views: 30,736

The Southern Poverty Law Center has updated its list of anti-gay hate groups, and if you’ve been reading LGF you’ll recognize the names of many of these organizations: 18 Anti-Gay Groups and Their Propaganda.

Even as some well-known anti-gay groups like Focus on the Family moderate their views, a hard core of smaller groups, most of them religiously motivated, have continued to pump out demonizing propaganda aimed at homosexuals and other sexual minorities. These groups’ influence reaches far beyond what their size would suggest, because the “facts” they disseminate about homosexuality are often amplified by certain politicians, other groups and even news organizations. Of the 18 groups profiled below, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) will be listing 13 next year as hate groups (eight were previously listed), reflecting further research into their views; those are each marked with an asterisk. Generally, the SPLC’s listings of these groups is based on their propagation of known falsehoods — claims about LGBT people that have been thoroughly discredited by scientific authorities — and repeated, groundless name-calling. Viewing homosexuality as unbiblical does not qualify organizations for listing as hate groups.

Read the whole thing, because there are many examples showing exactly why this list exists.

Truth Wins Out has a list of the new additions; the Orwellian names are striking, invoking America, Truth, Faith, Morality, and of course, Family, as they spread hatred, bigotry, and dishonest propaganda.

1. Abiding Truth Ministries [Scott Lively]
2. American Family Association
3. Americans for Truth About Homosexuality [Peter LaBarbera]
4. American Vision
5. Chalcedon Foundation
6. Dove World Outreach Center [Terry Jones]
7. Faithful Word Baptist Church [Steven Anderson]
8. Family Research Council
9. Family Research Institute [Paul Cameron]
10. Heterosexuals Organized for a Moral Environment
11. Illinois Family Institute
12. MassResistance
13. Traditional Values Coalition

But these groups simply talk about the strong nurturing environment provided by a Christian household.

Well, that and how you're a dirty sinner who deserves to burn in hell for being a heathen who doesn't live in a Christian household.

Haha, focus on the family....

Unless someone in the family is gay, then ostracize him/her enough to the point of suicide!

Great focus!

These sorts filled with hate to such an extent that they write screeds mocking soldiers for receiving the Medal of Honor - for saving others. They explain in mocking and smug tones, as if their interlocutor was a brain damaged five year old that the MOH is for killing people. That these are pathetic chicken hawks is only part of the irony. That their sites are nothing more than screeching hatred of others and propounding the worst and most vile ignorance, racism and homophobia as part of "family values" is only part of the irony.

The irony of seeing people who are that wretched routinely seethe about SPLC, who after all put the KKK (an ally of these types) out of business in the name of family values puts it over the top.

This would be a sort of dark comedy if it were not real. This would be a Monty Python skit (it is certainly all absurd and extreme enough) if these folks were not real.

LOL it would follow Ludwig's law:

If a rightwing organization or bill has a perfectly reasonable, wholesome and "how could any one be opposed to it name," it is pure evil.

9 APox  Mon, Nov 22, 2010 11:24:33am

This stuff seriously gets me heated. I'm not anywhere near the point of wanting a family, but I was raised on the premise that a family has a bond of love, acceptance and support...

How those values get lost when someone reveals their inner-most secret/workings to you (their sexuality) baffles me. I could not imagine not accepting my child, and I don't even one! (i.e. not going through that "magical" birth experience thing :) ).

Sigh.

And since sociology and psychology are part of the sciences not only are they hate-groups but they are also anti-science organizations and individuals. Or in the case of Scott Lively we see historical revisionism in his anti-academic or anti-intellectual book, "Pink Swastikas." They are truly promoters of no-nothingism and ignorance.

I see two name structures at work:

1> (Wholesome adjective) + (wholesome noun) + (wholesome synonym for "group"). Hence American Family Association. Family Values Congress. Patriotic Citizens Caucus.

2> (Wholesome adjective) + (wholesome noun) for (different wholesome adjective) + (different wholesome noun). Thus Patriotic Americans for Family Values or Family Members for Constitutional Liberty.

New Evidence Proves First Flag Made By Betsy Ross Actually Shirt For Gay Friend

PHILADELPHIA—Historians at the University of Pennsylvania announced the discovery this week of a personal diary from the late 18th century that reveals the first U.S. flag sewed by Betsy Ross was originally intended as a shirt for her flamboyant gay friend Nathaniel.

"This has completely upended the accepted narrative behind the first American flag," said historian Kenneth Atwood, who led the team of scholars analyzing the long-forgotten journal of prominent Philadelphia homosexual Nathaniel Linsley. "Now we can say with certainty that our nation's most enduring symbol of freedom, strength, and prosperity is actually just the result of Nathaniel's desire for a sassy, tight-fitting top."

"We've all been taught that the 13 stars and stripes of the first U.S. flag represented the original 13 colonies, but this is simply not the case," Atwood added. "In fact, Nathaniel thought that stripes were slimming, and he just really, really liked stars."

Last O.T. for a while...

I was too damn late, Mom passed away this morning about 4:14am.

It is going to be hard to stomach seeing my brother for awhile I guess, but I'm going to have to try for Dads sake, it is not going to be easy. I am NOT a happy camper right now.

Very very sorry to hear this.
I lost both my parents within a 4-month period.

Actually, I was just talking about that the other day in the context of competitions involving animals, and people who demand far more of them than they ever would themselves, physically or mentally.

"He's lazy."

"He doesn't try hard enough."

"He's not physically talented."

"Just not fast enough today."

"He fucked up."

"He did me dirty."

"He sucks."

Sayeth doughy men and women, who expect dumb animals to pack their lazy, underachieving, decidedly un-athletic butts, to achieve some level of greatness measured in human terms. It's the same for their commentary of other human athletes.

Yes

127 Kragar  Mon, Nov 22, 2010 1:09:19pm

Lets try this one.

Glenn Beck was not happy with Barbara Bush’s oh-so-thinly veiled attack on Sarah Palin from over the weekend. Although he says the former first lady is his “favorite Bush,” he called her comments “really insulting” and called her the “oatmeal box lady,” apparently comparing her to the man in the Quaker Oats logo (Who, it turns out, isn’t William Penn. Huh. You learn something new every day).

While Beck felt the comments were condescending, he basically waved them away by saying that Bush isn’t “a political animal” and pointing out that her husband, the “politician” of the couple, claims to not know what the Tea Party is. He ends by saying that George H. W. Bush was very progressive and was the first president to use the term “New World Order.” And you thought there’s be no George Soros connection.

Fighter jets force plane to land at Manassas Airport

Two fighter jets forced a Cessna to land at Manassas Airport this afternoon after the pilot violated airspace over Washington, military officials said.

The grounds of the White House were evacuated as two F-16s intercepted the Cessna 182 after it traveled 17 miles in the no-fly zone.

Residents around Prince William County and Manassas heard and saw the plane and jets as they headed west into Manassas.

The plane landed at the airport at 2:30 p.m.

A witness in Lake Ridge said he saw the fighter jets following the plane and the jet pilots were acting "very aggressive."

Stay with insidenova.com for more on this breaking story.

I'd be shocked if any actual heterosexuals are in the group. We tend to be interested in the opposite sex, not what gays are doing.

Some people are worried they wouldn't be able to turn down a gay guy if he hit on them.
