Drudge Hypes 9/11 Truther Alex Jones on Twitter

All the way out
Wingnuts • Views: 41,562

The line separating the extreme right from the right wing mainstream media has eroded to nothing, as Matt Drudge of the mega-traffic right wing news site Drudge Report uses Twitter to promote the craziest conspiracy peddler in America, Alex Jones: Twitter / @MATT DRUDGE: ‘THERE IS NO REST WHEN YOU …

Reminds me of a line from a Dilbert Cartoon "Are you diversified?" "Yeah, we have suckers of all types..."

To me that seems to be exactly what kind of "Big Tent" The GOP has...

One of the headlines on Alex Jones's site right now:

Media Demonizes Gaddafi as Pentagon Prepares Attack

9/11 truther and Gaddafi defender.

And the right-wing likes him.

Looney tunes.

No, Drudge is a definite right winger.

10 HappyWarrior  Thu, Feb 24, 2011 3:16:49pm

I thought Jones was always a right winger. Never a neo-conservative but more of a paleocon? I don't know too much about the guy other than the fact he's batshit.

Drudge is, but I focus on the "extreme" part. I think AJ has always been an extreme right-winger (and Bush-bashing is compatible with it from the paleocon side), while Drudge was a bit more mainstream, and may be going all the way now because it makes him money in the current eternal tea party atmosphere.

This is aesthetically pleasing. Here's something less aesthetically pleasing. I was thinking about Kaddafi's spelling and there's this article:

[Link: blogs.abcnews.com...]

So if [] is an optional part and {%P%%P%%P%} is a choice of several options, then Kaddafi is:

[{al-%P%el-}]{Q%P%K%P%G}[h]{a%P%e%P%u[a]}{d[{d%P%h[dh]}]%P%th%P%zz}af[f]{i%P%y}

Precise, but ugly as butt-ugly Q.

I don't know - during the Bush years, he was much more identified with the far left. He showed up at International ANSWER rallies, etc., and there was that infamous video in which he badgered and screamed at Michelle Malkin. But he was always so far out that the "left/right" thing became pretty meaningless.

I think he fits much more on the extreme right. He seems to have really found his voice since he started pandering to the Patriot movement crowd.

From his 2006 interview:

But all of the people calling in agreeing are saying "Alex Jones is a conservative, he's not a liberal." The hosts tell me I'm a liberal commie, I'm American al-Qaeda, just stupid baseline stuff like that.

dOc: Do you consider yourself a Conservative?

AJ: Sure. I don't really buy into the modern political labels. I call myself a paleo-conservative. By that, I mean I believe in national sovereignty, I believe in smaller government, I'm fiscally conservative. But I don't want to be known as a Conservative today because of the connotations. You know, words and their meanings change over time, and so I'm just a truthseeker and a freedom lover. I'm not some classical, mainline liberal seeing fascists behind every bush. This is real life fascism. This is textbook black uniform, secret police, secret arrests, torture fascism.

The Paulians are pretty much the core of the "Patriot" movement and they've always been friendly with Code Pink, Answer, and the anti-war rallies. Alex Jones and the Paulians still have a deep hatred for the neocons. Now that the Neocons have been pretty much purged from the right Alex fits right in.

re: #78 Naso Tang

Can someone explain to me what is the meaning of Charlie Sheen in this?

HAHA, Look at the guy who doesn't get the whole Charlie Sheen thing!

I really don't have a clue, sorry.

Oh, thanks for the h/t.

And now for something completely different:

CNN's Ben Wedeman gives a firsthand account from a rally in Benghazi, Libya (Nov 23)

"Charlie Sheen bud", LOL. Also, is "reality" some new drug or something?

re: #7 Obdicut

One of the headlines on Alex Jones's site right now:

9/11 truther and Gaddafi defender.

And the right-wing likes him.

Looney tunes.

It's not so much that he defends Gadafi as that he hates "the globalists" more than anything else and sees their nefarious doings in any major world event.

re: #17 Killgore Trout

I don't think he's changed any. It's the wingnuts who have changed. If there was a major terrorist attack today Drudge, Glenn Beck and Fox news would all be exposing the "inside job" nonsense.

But only because the Right is not in charge right now. Alex Jones belongs to the Right as well (and always has), but I think his anti-authoritarian is his actual extreme.

I am happy for reasons that have to do with private life (family), but thank you for asking.

re: #26 Charles

I don't know - during the Bush years, he was much more identified with the far left. He showed up at International ANSWER rallies, etc., and there was that infamous video in which he badgered and screamed at Michelle Malkin. But he was always so far out that the "left/right" thing became pretty meaningless.

I think he fits much more on the extreme right. He seems to have really found his voice since he started pandering to the Patriot movement crowd.

Inaccurate. He's crazy and schizophrenic, but he's always had the same ideology. He views the "left/right paradigm" as a divide and conquer method. Obviously he's being as ridiculous as possible to sell more dvds, there is no question about that.

How he views (or rather: sells) himself is pretty much irrelevant to the question how he actually is. He thinks homosexuality is a "lifestyle" and that gay people are created by the government. He is a climate change denier. He is an evangelical Christian. He thinks abortion is murder. He believes in "Intelligent Design" instead of evolution. He is a staunch nationalist and anti-internationalist. These are all traditional positions of the Right, not the Left. In fact, other than his "legalize it" and anti-war (read: isolationist) stances (which are completely acceptable in the paleoconservative/paleolibertarian mould of the Right), there is nothing much content-wise Jones shares with the Left.

One topic that I would actually have trouble with classifying is his position on the post-9/11 surveillance state. Bush pretty much set the agenda for that on the Right, and I think it's why the same agenda under Obama has come under far less (and far less accurate) criticism than it deserved.
