Herman Cain: Planned Parenthood is Plotting Genocide Against ‘Black Babies’

The right wing’s war on Planned Parenthood gets uglier
Wingnuts • Views: 29,860

Announced Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is taking one of the religious right’s most perverted arguments against Planned Parenthood into the mainstream, claiming that the true purpose of the organization is genocide against “black babies.”

Herman Cain poses with hate monger Pamela GellerSpeaking to reporters and bloggers at the Heritage Foundation, Cain echoed a position expressed by many other Republicans.

“I support de-funding Planned Parenthood,” Cain said.  “Tactically how they [Congress] does it…I can’t tell you.”

Cain then explained the reason behind his stance.

“You probably don’t hear a lot of people talking about this,” Cain said.  “When Margaret Sanger – check my history – started Planned Parenthood, the objective was to put these centers in primarily black communities so they could help kill black babies before they came into the world.”

“It’s planned genocide,” Cain claimed.

“It’s carrying out its original mission,” he continued.  “I’ve talked to young girls who go in there, and they [Planned Parenthood] don’t talk about how you plan parenthood.  They don’t talk about adoption as an option.  They don’t say, ‘Well, bring your parents in so we can sit down and talk with you, and counsel with you before you make this decision.’”

The hypocrisy of this over-the-top race-baiting conspiracy theory is stunning; if Republicans were accused of deliberately plotting genocide against African Americans, the screaming outrage from the right would be deafening.

This really lays bare the GOP’s agenda in their drive to defund Planned Parenthood — it has absolutely nothing to do with the federal budget, and absolutely everything to do with fanatical far right religious ideology.

Thanks for front paging this one, Charles! Kudos to elizajane!

Like I said there, I mailed my $25 contribution this morning to Planned Parenthood and I would hope that everyone could contribute a little something. It’s more important than ever now.

“I’ve talked to young girls who go in there…”

Well, that settles it. He’s “talked to” Planned Parenthood clients and Planned Parenthood never mentions adoption.

I have checked your history, Mr. Cain.

Margaret Sanger was not the world’s nicest person, but the idea that bringing birth control to black communities was an attempt at genocide is a ridiculous modern smear. She did so with the support of leaders, including religious leaders, in the black community, and by doing so, she helped women who needed to control their fertility in order to create a better life for themselves and their children.

Also, she worked to bring birth control to white women as well, in fact, first, something that seems lost on many people. She only reached out to the black community after many years of work in primarily white communities.

Under ‘info for teens’ at the PP site:

If you’re pregnant, you have three options to think about — abortion, adoption, and parenting. Reading and learning about each option will help you get the facts and may help you decide what to do.

I suppose that not mentioning adoption first means they ‘never mention it’.

I wish there was a was that if an elected official said something that wasn’t a fact while running or while in office he would be held accountable, to prove that his statements were true, and if not then some sort of punishment should be lashed out. This is getting pretty sad. And I am not just talking about Republicans there are a good number of things Obama needs to be held accountable for saying during his election as well.

I’m sure the one in my community now has a much bigger black clientele, because I’m living in a predominantly black area now.

This is a Python script that scrapes all of the Planned Parenthood locations off of their website, converts their addresses to latitude and longitude, and then checks the US Census data for that location to see if it is majority black.

You’ll need Python, the BeautifulSoup and GeoPy modules, and a free account at InfoChimps to access the census data.

Though it’s a hack, as you can guess the results don’t support any claim of black genocide.

Oops, I forgot to mention that this was in Anchorage Alaska. If planned Parenthood is actually a plot to exterminate blacks then why would they set up an office in a city that has less than a 1.5% black population? It just seems kind of strange to set up a “black killing” facility in a place where there are almost no blacks. Oh well I suppose I’m just not smart enough to see the “deeper purpose” for their being there, I’m sure some conspiracy theorist could explain it to me though. ;)

I haven’t heard this one before.

But then, it’s just a few logical leaps from the thesis of the authors of Freakonomics, who posited that the most significant cause for the decline in crime rates starting in the 1990’s was the availability of legalized abortion starting in the 1970’s. If you assume that most of those aborted fetuses were black (which isn’t true, by the way), then you can take a those few logical leaps and claim that there is genocide involved.

Just so no one gets the wrong idea, I think it’s utter nonsense.

Thomas Sowell went off the rails quite a while ago.

Thomas Sowell lost all credibility with me when he jettisoned his belief in free employment markets and became a know-nothing anti-immigrant demagogue.

But as for his claim that redevelopment is “ethnic cleansing,” - while it is hyperbole to claim any connection between actions in the U.S. and Bosnia, it is true that redevelopment of “blighted” urban areas has, in the past, led to “gentrification” and the forced removal of minority populations, either by the redevelopment action itself, or by the rises in housing prices that result. There’s a bitter old adage in the African-American community itself - “Urban Renewal means Negro Removal.”

There’s also the tendency to displace minority populations with new public works projects such as freeways, as has happened to the Mexican-American community in Los Angeles, with the old joke, “All roads lead to Rome, all freeways lead to East Los Angeles.”

This afternoon Mayor Bloomberg signed Intro.371-A, legislation regulating the deceptive practices of crisis pregnancy centers, into law!

Basically, these fake clinics try to act as though they do offer abortion, but counsel everyone who enters from a zealous anti-abortion persepctive. They basically sell over the counter pregnancy tests while dressing in scrubs and otherwise prop-dressing to seem like actual medical personnel. They then proceed to, effectively, give medical advice— often using false statistics.

Good going, Mayor Bloomberg, and i’m glad to see my local official was the one who sponsored this. I’m going to volunteer for her, and reward her effort with my own.

At the risk of coming to his defense, I wouldn’t call it a lie. It’s not possible for any president to fulfill all campaign promises in 4 years. Usually it takes 2 terms and then not everything can be done. My feeling is if they can get 1/2 of what they say done, they’ve done excellent, but that’s even difficult.

His main focus was healthcare and he didn’t really get what he wanted. He’s done things for education, but much more has to be done. He got rid of DADT and DOMA so that’s great. The energy thing is a tough one, but his two basic issues were healthcare and energy.

You’re right. He was very vocal about gitmo and been criticized for not closing it.

A dominant right wing talking point is how liberals are actually the racists. They’ll say that affirmative action is actually racists because it tells black people they can only succeed with government help. They’ll also greatly distort the history of the Civil Rights Struggle by saying the Democrats filibustered the Civil Rights bill, and that more Republicans voted for it than Dems.

The latter point is technically true, but what it carefully omits is that both parties were vastly different in 1964 than they are now. The Democrats who voted against it ended up becoming Republicans - J. Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms come to mind, neither of whom could remotely be called “liberal.” But in the mind of teabaggers and dittoheads, if Jared Lee Loughner is a liberal, so is J. Strom Thurmond.

When I initially saw the photo in this article I thought, “Who’s that attractive lady?” then cringed when I realized it was Pamz.

She’s not an ugly woman. She’s just an ugly person.

Doesn’t Daniels qualify if he’s running for President? I hope he or some like him wins the GOP nomination, because I don’t want to think about what could happen if a Bachmann won the presidency. Even as a Democrat, I would prefer that the GOP present us with a viable alternative.

That could happen in 2016 if Bachmann was selected in 2012 (I hope I’m right).

Beauty may be skin deep, but ugly goes down to the bone…

The Bradley Effect. One of the more peculiar behaviors of a nation with a lot of racial issues to work out.

I heard a lot about this when Obama was running in 2008. All of the older people I knew were afraid of it happening. There is some argument that Bradley was adversely affected by a pro gun law that was put up for referendum and that an increased turnout in the rural parts of CA, hurt him as much as anything else. I’m sure it happens, but thank God it didn’t happen in 2008.

If you can’t trust the Godfather’s pizza guy on matters of reproductive health, who can you trust?!?!?!

I’m still confused as to whether or not this is something the president can do unilaterally. Closing Gitmo would still require a transfer of the detainees and so far Congress, even when controlled by Democrats, has refused to sign of on the money to do so. I think Congress has played a huge part in Obama not being able to keep that promise so far.
