3 Someone Please Beam Me Up!  Thu, Jan 26, 2012 5:03:16pm

To anyone watching tonight:

1) I envy your stamina and tolerance for the same old crap.

2) You must be out of your mind.

Predictions:

- Some disparaging remarks about minorities

- "Food stamp President!"

- Ronald Reagan...more times than you can count

- Crapping all over SOTU

- Someone mentioning the Brewer encounter

re: #3 C1nnabar

I've only watched one. The commentary here is better than watching it, I think.

But if everyone acted that way, there wouldn't be any commentary.

re: #3 C1nnabar

I'm curious to see how the candidates pandering to hispanic voters gets balanced with their earlier pandering to anti-hispanic voters.

7 Major Tom  Thu, Jan 26, 2012 5:05:42pm

What? They couldn't get Steven Tyler?

Newt gets in a nuclear aircraft battle group reference out of the box. BAM. Big idea, right away.

19 Gus  Thu, Jan 26, 2012 5:09:48pm

Every time Salamandrus the Preceptor says "frankly", you must chant "fundamentally" in reply.

oh god, not immigration again

23 Charles Johnson  Thu, Jan 26, 2012 5:10:29pm

Ron Paul goes right for the loony gold standard obsession. Small idea.

24 What, me worry?  Thu, Jan 26, 2012 5:10:30pm

Wolf should call him out on this. Obama IS enforcing the laws. Too well, in fact. I did a whole page on it that was promoted.

Does he mean nuclear powered planes or a nuclear aircraft carrier group?

And now, xenophobia.

Carrier. Typing too fast.

28 Targetpractice  Thu, Jan 26, 2012 5:11:48pm

And nobody is ever going to ask Santorum if we should return to the laws that his grandpa got into America through, rather than the quotas and lines that now typify the immigrant's experience.

29 Charles Johnson  Thu, Jan 26, 2012 5:12:45pm

There goes Mitt, smirking at Newt again.

30 What, me worry?  Thu, Jan 26, 2012 5:12:53pm

These guys are freakin idiots. They don't even know what is happening in the country today.

31 Bunky Bunk  Thu, Jan 26, 2012 5:13:21pm

Uh, Florida GOP voters: they've been asked a thousand frick frackin' times about their stances on illegal immigration. Why weren't you paying attention before?

Full woman, fleshly apple, hot moon,
thick smell of seaweed, crushed mud and light,
what obscure brilliance opens between your columns?
What ancient night does a man touch with his senses?

Loving is a journey with water and with stars,
with smothered air and abrupt storms of flour:
loving is a clash of lightning-bolts
and two bodies defeated by a single drop of honey.

Neruda.

187 Ojoe  Thu, Jan 26, 2012 5:40:11pm

Ah Vastness of Pines

Ah vastness of pines, murmur of waves breaking,
slow play of lights, solitary bell,
twilight falling in your eyes, toy doll,
earthly shell, in you the earth sings!

In you the rivers sing and my soul flees in them
as you desire, and you send it where you will.
Aim my road on your bow of hope
and in a frenzy I will free my flock of arrows.

All around me I see your waist of fog,
and your silence hunts down my tormented hours;
my kisses anchor, and my moist desire nests
in you with your arms of transparent stone.

Ah your mysterious voice that love tolls and deepens
in the resonant and dying evening!
Thus in the long hours I have seen, over the fields,
the ears of wheat tolling in the mouth of the wind.

Twenty love poems and a song of despair - Pablo Neruda, 1924

Enjoy !

You want to set men on the Moon, then that's going to require an enormous amount of government spending and sponsorship. The Apollo Program wasn't funded by Boeing.

Factory jobs, which have been shrinking as a share of total U.S. employment since the early 1950s, remain 2 million below their pre-recession level. Obama’s election-year plan “to bring manufacturing back” -- as well as a rival House Republican package that would reduce taxes and prune regulations -- fly in the face of structural changes that inexorably lower employment in goods-producing industries.

Except you could not repeal the ACA in one fell swoop, you'd have to remove it in bits and pieces, which would just cause a great deal of confusion and drive insurance premiums through the roof in order to compensate. Even if Mitt tries to use reconciliation, as he's promised, there's still much of the ACA that don't rely upon the budget and thus couldn't be gotten rid of in that manner.

If you're uninsured you should be able to own your own insurance.

Well duh, great, thanks, that's in the Affordable Care Act, it's called the Public Option. If you have a pre-existing condition then insurance is already available. That's the legislation you dumbshits are so keen to repeal.

Romney has this thing won if he shuts the fuck up...but he keeps reminding the audience that he's a colossal douche-bag.

I love hearing Mitt defend RomneyCare. He's basically doing Obama's job in defending ObamaCare.

IIRC, Mondale wanted to take an ax to NASA's budget and string them up in public after the Apollo 1 fire, so derpitude towards NASA is definitely bi-partisan.

Worrying about the space program these days with the economy and the class structure the way it is, is like worrying about your front lawn when your house is filled with garbage and on fire

It's not a race. Imitation is the highest form of flattery.

It was more 'super intelligent people think alike" than imitation.

Santorum's landing blows...time for Wolf to come to Romney's defense with a Ron Paul distraction.

I'm debating which Bond movie Gingrich preferred more - "Moonraker" or "You Only Live Twice". I'm guessing the latter, given the appeal of a mission including getting married in Japan.

When Ron Paul started in medicine, he was writing prescriptions in cuneiform on tablets.

Private sector only invests in things it thinks can become profitable, Newt. And whether you wish to acknowledge it or not, right now, getting to the Moon is not seen as profitable. That's why, after the Apollo program ended, the private sector gave up on space except for satellites.

You want to set men on the Moon, then that's going to require an enormous amount of government spending and sponsorship. The Apollo Program wasn't funded by Boeing.

I think that Newt would have no issues with a company such as Weyland-Yutani...

/in space, no one can hear you scream

I can't wait for Newt's response to why his current wife would make a great first lady. I'm guessing it's because she can contain all of his passion and love.....for the country, at least for now.
