Romney Blogger Dan Riehl: ‘If Joan Walsh Is Going to Open Her Mouth, She Should Do Something I’d Enjoy’

Here’s Dan Riehl, a breitbart.com writer who’s on Mitt Romney’s list of approved bloggers, reacting to Salon editor Joan Walsh’s criticisms of Andrew Breitbart:

Note again: this isn’t just a random wingnut crazy on Twitter; he’s one of a select group of right wing bloggers invited to meet personally with Mitt Romney. And also a creepy sexist pig.

(h/t: STLActivist.)

This is what they consider a political response to be? The age of GOP pundits seems to be stuck at 13.

That's right, if you verbally dehumanize her, it isn't sexist.

What a pig. Oh, wait. I just dehumanized Dan Riehl. Now I can say anything I want about him. Too bad I've exhausted the subject matter already.

3 erik_t  Sat, May 26, 2012 12:45:14pm

I appreciate that Mr. Riehl took the time to clarify that he was, indeed, making a funny about oral sex. I have to assume that a plurality of his neanderthal followers didn't quite get the meaning on their first reading.

Apparently, he likes fantasizing about women he considers a 'pox' having sex with him. That's kind of weird, but that sort of humiliation fantasy is pretty common, I guess. I think it's all the self-loathing.

I think he's genuinely enough of a creepy weirdo to not understand that saying that a woman should shut up and suck his cock is, actually, wrong in any way. He might even go the 'it was a compliment!' route.

Dan Riehl also went with grade-school invective at Megan McCain, today:

[Link: www.riehlworldview.com...]

McCain's contextually weak, dumb and uncalled for attacks on Andrew Breitbart's character deserve harsh rebuke, but the response to her light-headed attack on the word "extremist" should also be handled correctly. You're damned right Andrew Breitbart was an extremist. It's what made him effective and I'm just not in the mood to bow to the cultural creep he so often fought against. The response to Meggie Mc Big Fat Ass ignorantly throwing around the word "extremist," especially in GOP politics, was written well enough in 1964 and it needn't be reinvented to acquiesce to a misguided notion born of nothing more than a political correctness already embraced by too many Republicans and even conservatives.

Misogynists believe that the worst insult you can call someone is to call them a woman. Hence they'll feminize any (male) opponent by claiming he's gay; just as they'll remind women that their ultimate purpose and use is as a sexual object for men, by calling them "whores", "sluts", or telling them that they have a better use for their mouths, like Riehl.

Looks like Rickett's wasn't just weighing a Rev. Wright ad blitz, he's also backing Dinesh D’Souza's "Kenyan anti-colonialist worldview"-Obama "documentary":

[Link: www.nytimes.com...]

But Mr. Ricketts is continuing to play a provocative role in the effort to defeat Mr. Obama.

He is involved in another effort slated for this summer, a documentary film based on a widely criticized book, “The Roots of Obama’s Rage” by Dinesh D’Souza, which asserts that Mr. Obama is carrying out the “anticolonial” agenda of his Kenyan father.

Mr. Ricketts’s aides said he was one of roughly two dozen investors, providing only 5 percent of the film’s budget.

...

An early glimpse of his views on Mr. Obama can be found in a June 2010 graduation speech he gave at Bellevue University in Nebraska, for which he is a leading benefactor. Lamenting the banking and auto bailouts, he declared, “Our Republic is under assault from our government,” adding the historical note that “most of the past threats have come from outside our borders.”

He called this “a most dangerous time,” when “people begin to second-guess the American experiment” and “flirt with dead-ends like socialism.” It was in that climate, he said, that he had decided to become more personally involved in politics.

...

Yet the film Mr. Ricketts is helping to finance, called “2016: Obama’s America,” is built on the premise that “Obama has a dream, a dream from his father, that the sins of colonialism be set right and America be downsized,” according to a trailer.

Mr. Ricketts’s aides also said that he had helped pay for newspaper and Internet advertisements promoting Mr. D’Souza’s book in late 2010, one of which called it “the book the White House doesn’t want you to read,” and warned, “The real Barack Obama is even worse than you think.”

Supposedly Maraniss' book actually paints a positive portrait of Obama's early life, but the publisher, Simon & Schuster, is promoting it through periodically leaking out only the more salacious bits. To some extent maybe they're doing the left a favor, as even the most charitable books in recent years are never reported as such -- they're combed for political incendiary, out of context snippets by both the right and the media, and the bulk of the book beyond those snippets is ignored. Heck, even Dreams from My Father only comes up these days when the RW blogosphere has run yet another keyword search against it to rebut some new Romney controversy :P.

The letter to Max Richtman, the president and CEO of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, who criticized Simpson earlier this week in a letter published by Politico, swings from sarcasm to bluntly expressed frustration and angry to seemingly grudging respect.

"I spent my entire public life trying to put Social Security back together and make it solvent for over 75 years. Why don't you help me?" Simpson wrote in the letter, obtained Friday night by ABC News.
This isn't the first letter sent by Simpson attacking a senior's group. Earlier this week Politico published a letter by Simpson addressed to the California Alliance for Retired Americans in which he characterized seniors as " greedy geezers."

Simpson wrote the letter to the California senior's group in response to flyers sent out by the CARA entitled: "Bowles! Simpson! Stop using the deficit as a phony excuse to gut our Social Security!"

Richtman responded to Simpson's letter to CARA, criticizing him for his "mean-spirited" tone, drawing the sharp reply from Simpson.

"Yes I could clean up my language a little, but I found sometimes that if you use gentle little terms - and I know a bit of lovely Shakespearean English - that people don't really seem to hear it," he wrote.

Simpson also lambasted seniors' groups for staying silent during the fight over the payroll tax holiday, at the same time as they encouraged their members to attack him.

"I didn't hear a peep out of your organization either - except when I got a whole ration of mail from your people - they said they were 'urged' - obviously stimulated by you (thinking I was still in the Senate) and several of your fine stalwart membership then referred to me as a 'Natzi pig f-er,'" he wrote.

Critics of the Payroll Tax Holiday passed earlier this year say the tax cut is stealing revenue from Social Security and even though it is temporary, has affected the long-term solvency of the popular social program.

Perhaps Simpson's most controversial assertion in the letter dismisses the idea that Social Security was created with the intent of providing a guaranteed retirement for seniors.

"You know damn well the system was never created as a 'retirement' - it was an 'income supplement' to take care of folks working in CCC camps who lost everything in the Great Depression," he wrote.

Sounds like a great "Family values" guy.

"Men" like Dan Riehl imagine shutting up women with their (no doubt inadequate) penises. It's the misogynists' way of shutting up mouthy women and reminding such women that their Reihl place is to be of sexual service to men.

Riehl went into salad shooter mode on his Twitter account to spam the feeds of his followers so they wouldn't sign on and see his creepy sex fantasy tweets about getting a beejer from someone he doesn't consider a woman. Instead they'll have page after page of Riehl's fart humor and insults hurled at Charles. The solution to pollution is dilution. That's how he keeps it clean.

The Breitbart gang, cult, whatever you want to call it is starting to remind me of the Church of Scientology. They haven't reached the point of legal hysteria yet although that might be coming since they have the newly minted basket case Alan Dershowitz on their side. They do however throw a raging fit everyone speaks negatively of their dear leader Andrew Breitbart as though he was the L. Ron Hubbard of the patriotsphere. Perhaps we should start referring to him as L. Ron Breitbart. Take me to your leader!

George had a pervert van. He was my transportation role model. Because he was way more crippled than me but he really got around. Pervert vans, everyone knows, are those vans without windows. Inside they are just bare metal. No carpet. No flooring. Bare metal walls. At the height of summer, it’s like an oven inside a pervert van. There were only three kinds of people who would buy such a vehicle: 1) small business operators hauling stuff like lumber or drywall, 2) perverts, 3) cripples without a lot of money.

The Obama administration, while insisting it is not meddling in Iran, yesterday confirmed it had asked Twitter to remain open to help anti-government protesters.

The company had planned a temporary shutdown to overhaul its service in the middle of the night on Monday but the US state department put in a request to postpone this.

Many protesters have being using Twitter to spread information about rallies and to share news.

Well, the UN and their inspectors are never going to have to make a decision. At worst they're going to issue a strongly worded letter. The EU is probably going to stay out of it as well. I don't see much chance of Nato getting involved. Maybe a miscellaneous European country or two might offer some help. Any action would probably be left up to the US and/or Israel.
They might decide to just let the Iranians build a bomb or retain their breakout capabilities and hope for the best. I wouldn't venture a guess either way.

Agreed. If UN officials admit that diplomacy has failed, then they're hosed. Because thanks to Russia and China, no use of force authorization is going to pass the Security Council. So for UN officials to admit that Iran cannot be persuaded to stop its enrichment program would be for them to admit that they are thereafter irrelevant in this matter, which they will not do.

Dan Riehl, that guy is a real of piece of work isn't he. Joan is actually a personal friend of mine, and I am outraged what the Limbaughification of politics has done. Because let's face it, every single trick, every single inflammatory statement, how to play to the worst tendencies of people rather than bring out the best in people, that old Andy Breitbart and his team of asshats use(d) were first used by Limbaugh.
Dan Reihl, I wonder if he has daughters? I wonder if it would be okay for some dipshit on the intertubes to make obvious statements about getting BJ's from those girls of his? Hmm.... He probably wouldn't like it at all, but it doesn't matter to him, since Joan is a woman writer who is a liberal. They always go there, they always pull the, "she isn't a real woman to me card" even though that makes them sound even worse. I can't believe he didn't claim she's a lesbian too! Jeebus, these folks have rocks for brains.

Romney doesn't care, I remember his response to the Sandra Fluke episode, "those aren't the words I would use", meaning he believed everything Rush uttered. I can't believe how pissed I am about this. I emailed Joan a link to this blog though.

Thanks Charles, I amazed that the right allows so many misogynists into their little club. And yet they seem to have no clue as to why the Republican party is shrinking, maybe we can eventually drown it in a bathtub.

I didn't mean to insult anyone who is 13, although I dare say many 13 year old's would go there, but not in front of adults or other kids (of the same sex) they didn't know very well.

There is a difference between a 13 year old mind in a 13 year old body, and a 13 year old mind in an adult body.

How much different is this than Limbaugh calling Sandra Fluke a slut and then salivating over the prospect of her posting sex videos on the internet for his viewing pleasure? Only difference I see is that Walsh is more of a public figure; otherwise it's the same kind of garbage.

Riehl is neither bright nor perceptive, but he knows how to follow the template created by other, more famous sexists and bigots. I wonder if he's still fantasizing about beating up black kids on DC public transportation.

What an asset to the Romney campaign.

This isn’t even his first foray into speculative oral sex fiction. Riehl previously targeted The Daily Caller‘s Tucker Carlson with his fellatio fantasies, publishing an article entitled “Breaking: Tucker Carlson To Give Head On Pennsylvania Avenue.”

Riehl isn’t the only political bomb-thrower invited to that secret meeting by the Romney campaign, but he’s probably the greatest indication of their poor judgment. If President Obama attended a secret meeting with someone like Dan Riehl, it’s a near-certainty Riehl’s Breitbart.com superiors would have something to say about it.

My most cherished family heirlooms are a couple large spoons I inherited from my grandfather. At first I thought nothing of them but figured they were saved for a reason. I noticed they're very worn most have been used for many years by right handed eaters (one lefty). The story behind the spoons is long gone but I'm pretty sure they served as the sole eating utensil of an individual for their entire lifetime. Maybe even used over multiple generations.

I'm pretty sure they served as the sole eating utensil of an individual for their entire lifetime. Maybe even used over multiple generations.

What happened if they lost it?

I suppose they were very poor people. Replacing a spoon might have been possible but probably would have been a significant financial setback.

RT @Liberty_Chick: waiting 4 Joan Walsh 2 apologize 4 ths. She unleashed a world of harassment on us w/ her lies http://t.co/rymbZTx7
May 27, 11:40 am | via TweetDeck | Retweeted 1 time.

I'm coming late to the party, so tell me if I'm getting this wrong.
1. Joan Walsh appears on MSNBC and calls Riehl, Loesch, et. al., "Breitbart spawn."
2. It gets tweeted multiple times, because it's witty and not far from truth.
3. Riehl, Loesch, et al. take umbrage.
4. Riehl tweets misogynist remark about Walsh.
5. This gets retweeted multiple times, because it's stupid and offensive.
6. Riehl gets Riehl mad, doubles down on remark,
7. Then blames Walsh for starting it all by insulting him and the other spawn. Demands SHE apologize.

About right?

Since this is on my father's side I think they're Huguenot stock. Immigrated to the us (via England) about 1800.

I looked around a bit but most of the info is on fancy spoons. These are shitty spoons used by simple people. Probably not worth anything. I do drop some large amounts of money in the big auctions houses when the economy is good. I might take my spoons with me next time. I'll tell them I'm spending some decent money on cellos and they'll probably give me a free appraisal and some history on my shitty spoons. To make the scam even more insulting I'll bet that sotheby's in London will give me an expert opinion for free. I know how to work the system.

re: #287 Killgore Trout

How could your spoons be shitty when they are old family spoons? You don't come from shite! I've got a worn out ivory crochet hook of me Swedish great gran's, but it's like a piece of amber. Who gives a tinker's damn as to the material worth.
If ye be so cynical that it doesn't matter, then it don't.
