Video: Breitbrat Ben Shapiro vs. Piers Morgan

Shapiro: “You demonize people by standing on the graves of the children of Sandy Hook”
Wingnuts • Views: 32,533

Witness the spectacle, if you will, of human-weasel hybrid Ben Shapiro vs. Piers Morgan. Morgan has done more than anyone in mainstream media to publicize the Breitbart-style far right, and I’m not sure that’s a good thing.

The entire right wing blogosphere is giving Shapiro virtual high fives for this belligerent performance; it was a “takedown,” Morgan was “schooled” and “crushed,” “cut down” and “owned” and “humiliated,” etc.

Shapiro’s trying to emulate Andrew Breitbart, obviously, and I must admit he has the smirking self-satisfied assholishness down, yet somehow manages to come off as even more unlikeable than his dead idol.

Putting aside Shapiro’s obnoxious personality, what’s interesting is that he makes it very clear once again that the ultimate right wing rationale behind stockpiling semi-automatic weapons is a loopy paranoid fear that they’re going to need them in an uprising against the US government. Yes, really.

Was just viewing this on the CNN site and had a bit of a go in the comments. Nice selection for the front page.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Nothing about a tyrannical government. Nope. A militia secures a free state against oppression from other states. How could it secure freedom from itself?

If my right arm doesn’t like what my left arm is doing I have the right to rip it off and beat my head with it!

There are right wing nutjobs in the movers and shakers of the internet that are crazier, or more unhinged, or less rational, but there are none who are out-and-out creepier than Ben Shapiro.

3 lawhawk  Fri, Jan 11, 2013 1:15:28pm

How long before some politician proposes an individual mandate for firearms and propose a tax for those who don’t buy in.

I say that in half jest, because any such proposal would necessarily require far more regulation and invasive checking of firearms than is currently present or amenable to the right and the NRA.

4 Charles Johnson  Fri, Jan 11, 2013 1:17:18pm

There’s really something not right in these people’s heads.

In the very same sentence, Shapiro accuses Morgan of demonizing political opponents and then says he’s “standing on the graves of the children of Sandy Hook.”

… he makes it very clear once again that the ultimate right wing rationale behind stockpiling semi-automatic weapons is a loopy paranoid fear that they’re going to need them in an uprising against the US government.

I argued against this at PJ Media for a while the last couple of weeks.

They really don’t like people who apply actual reasoning instead of rationalizing their predetermined conclusions.

Morgan is a wounded animal at this point. He lost most of Larry King’s already dwindling audience, and now gets half of Rachel Maddow’s viewership on a GOOD night. He is, in short, willing to do or say ANYTHING to keep his show on the air. The right wingers high fiving each other over the “triumphant” appearances of their heroes are giving Morgan EXACTLY what he sought from these bookings…call it symbiosis of the stupid.

9 Obdicut  Fri, Jan 11, 2013 1:20:33pm

General Washington, who has various false quotes about guns floating around, put down the Whiskey Rebellion. Our founding fathers had no truck with armed anti-tax rebels.

By the way, the Wiki article was clearly gotten to by some hardcore revisionist conservative:

The Whiskey Rebellion, or Whiskey Insurrection, was a tax protest in the United States beginning in 1791, during the presidency of George Washington. Farmers who used their leftover grain and corn in the form of whiskey as a medium of exchange were forced to pay a new tax. The tax was a part of treasury secretary Alexander Hamilton’s program to increase central government power, in particular to fund his policy of assuming the war debt of those states which had failed to pay. The farmers who resisted, many war veterans, were fighting for the principles of the American Revolution, in particular against taxation without local representation.

Yeah, because President Washington, elected with the votes of the whole country, somehow was the same as not having any voting power at all in the British Empire.

There was a town that passed an ordinance requiring residents to be armed years ago. I don’t believe they actually enforced it though.

In fact, the Constitution specifically authorizes Congress to call up the militia to suppress insurrection; so the purpose served by the 2d Amendment is the exact opposite of what gun nuts claim.

I don’t think that this is something they fear. These people seem to actively fantasize about participating in some kind of armed “revolution” against the government. Presumably, they envision it playing out like Red Dawn. They think it would be exciting and fun.

Maybe they should take a break from the 80’s action movies, and go spend a week in Syria, and then we’ll see how fun they think such a conflict would be.

Or spend time in Turkey, Jordan, or Lebanon, where hundreds of thousands of refugees have fled to avoid being caught in the crossfire between rebels who have become increasingly armed with army weapons, and Assad’s loyalists who have no problem firing on civilians. He’s referencing how the outgunned, out-armed, and out-numberd chechyans held off the russian army. Notionally it’s a model for Tea Party vs the US. As I hinted, it ignores the fact the Chechyans had a massive terrain advantage. Add they also had a near-unified population and were receiving support from other Islamic nations. The Tea Party may have the near-unified population, but not where they have terrain advantages.

One more add to this. The Chechyans post-USSR are not well off economically. Better to be free and starving…

Yeah, that had a lot to do with it. When the rebels are being provided gear, either what they scrounged or what they have shipped in from outside help, it’s easy to at least hold off a superior force for awhile. Of course, if you want to see what’s more likely to happen if these dipshits decide to “rise up” against the government, wiki “Ruby Ridge” and “Waco.”

What DF was saying is that not even Grozney could hold out because even though the Russian tanks were ineffective, their artillery was.

Doesn’t much matter, since in the US the police have more than enough firepower to clean up the Teabaggers if they try. It won’t get to the point of needing to use the military.

True, but most of the time infantry don’t have overhead protection, so airburst is the better fusing for artillery shells. Urban and anti-bunker/fortress operations are limited exceptions to the rule.

Fear, fear of the black drug addict breaking into their home, raping their women and taking away their manhood, fear of a black president’s troops breaking in to take away his manhood (guns), fear of Arab extremists breaking in to take his Christianity away.

The US has a culture of fear, there will always be people that are susceptible to this culture.

I think it’s fear that Obama is gonna take away guns from white people to give to black people to wreak vengeance on whitey. White guys are always fearful of black/brown guys having guns. How many said Trayvon would be alive now if he’d had a gun? Ditto the Sikh temple murders.

Quoting eight pictures. Of this list, by my count, at least five of the eight overthrew a vaguely stable and non-evil government with an armed popular uprising and installed a horrific murderous dictatorship with their, oh I dunno, vaguely organized militia.

The irony is legitimately staggering.

Stalin succeeded Lenin to power, and Kim Jong-Il succeeded his father. Chiang Kai-Shek’s Kumintang government had been badly destabilized by the Japanese invasion of China (and the KMT had no small amount of evil in it), Castro overthrew Bastista (who was fairly evil, just not horrifically so) and Hitler’s becoming chancellor in Germany was the result of political maneuvering, not a popular uprising. Only in the cases of Idi Amin, Qaddafi, and Pol Pot was a really non-evil regime overthrown and only in the first two cases was it stable (the Lon Nol government was under intense Communist pressure right from the start).

93 Ian G.  Fri, Jan 11, 2013 2:06:45pm
The best defense against tyranny in a modern nation is to have an army that will not obey any would-be tyrant.

Bingo. Hence Nixon/Kissinger’s need to have Chile’s General Rene Schneider murdered. He was loyal to the death to Chile’s constitution, and would have crushed any coup attempt against Allende.

On that note, how come we never hear about what gun laws were like in Chile in the 1970s from the gun nuts? Is it because so many of them still admire the killer and supporter of international terrorism, Augusto Pinochet.

Then I had to shoot at a living, moving target. It wasn’t even shooting back. Comedy ensued.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security has suspended the handgun carry permit of a local man who threatened to “start killing people” to protect his Second Amendment right.

In a statement released Friday officials said they had suspended the handgun carry permit of James Yeager, CEO of Tactical Response based on “material likelihood of risk of harm to the public”.

On Thursday, a video of Yeager angrily claiming he would “start killing people” if President Barack Obama moved forward with gun control measures began to go viral on the internet.

The archival version shows that parties of Bolshevik operatives sent out from the Smolny by Lenin took over all critical centers of power in Petrograd in the early hours of the night without a shot being fired. In fact the effectively unoccupied Winter Palace also was taken bloodlessly by a small group which broke in, got lost in the cavernous interior, and accidentally happened upon the remnants of Kerensky’s provisional government in the imperial family’s breakfast room. The illiterate revolutionaries then compelled those arrested to write up their own arrest papers. The stories of the “defense of the Winter Palace” and the heroic “Storming of the Winter Palace” came later as the creative propaganda product of Bolshevik publicists.

re: #147 Varek Raith

Reminds me of the awful scurrilous Dredd Scott mention…

Dred Scott v. Sandford (1857)[4] - The court ruled Scott did not enjoy the protection of the Bill of Rights because of his racial background. However, in its ruling, it implies all free men do have the right to bear arms by indicating what would happen if he was indeed afforded full protection:

“It would give to persons of the negro race, … the right to enter every other State whenever they pleased, … the full liberty of speech in public and in private upon all subjects upon which its own citizens might speak; to hold public meetings upon political affairs, and to keep and carry arms wherever they went.”

163 palomino  Fri, Jan 11, 2013 2:49:00pm

Why are a few restrictions (waiting periods, databases, background checks) and even a few bans (ARs and high capacity mags) incompatible with the 2nd Amendment? Certainly no one’s right to self-defense is compromised if they are “limited” to owning all the other types of firearms available besides high capacity ARs. (That is unless you think Russia is planning to invade your house.)

Shapiro really shows his nuttiness when he begins talking about tyranny taking over America in 50-100 years (where did he get those numbers…his ass, I suppose). Even more irrationally, he seems to believe that ARs in civilian hands could be the crucial line of defense that prevents the establishment of such a tyranny. But if a tyrannical govt does arise and attempts to impose a dictatorship, the overall number of ARs in America is very unlikely to be the deciding factor. All the other types of weapons currently owned by civilians will do just as well, which means not well at all against the world’s most powerful military…a few thousand more ARs won’t tip the balance.

Shapiro’s fantasy of a 2nd American Revolution/Civil War is not only reckless, it reveals the character of someone who sees his side losing a cultural struggle and can’t come up with a nonviolent solution, so…war it must be.

Okay boys and girls, I can’t take this anymore!!! I’m going to teach you some military historical facts. All the Anti-2ND Amendment wackos keep calling AR-15s and such “Assault Weapons” The term assault weapon is a PROGRESSIVE term that they made up and here’s the proof. 1942 the Nazis were trying to develop a weapon that could fire a rifle bullet out of a sub machine gun. The machine guns during that time were to big and heavy and usually had to have two soldiers carry them. The sub machine gun were to small and were only effective at close range. What they came up with was called the STG-44. (predecessor of the AK-47) But the Nazis needed a special name for it, so it would strike fear in the Allies soldier’s minds. The Nazis were experts at propaganda. Joesph Gobbels, the Minister of Propaganda, Had a gift for deception and spinning the truth. He also was able to coin phases like “Wonder Weapons.” The name Hitler and Gobbels came up was “Sturmgewehr!!!” Which in German means “Storm Assault” thus it was adopted as Assault Weapon. Gobbels had a mentor before the Nazi Party took over and he became Propaganda Minister. His name……..President WOODROW WILSON!!! FATHER OF MODERN PROGRESSIVISM!!! Don’t believe me? Look it up for yourself.

This is history folks and we already know that progessives hate history because they have been trying to erase it for over 100 years by indoctrination of our children. “Like and Share”

Annnnd it finally sinks in:

Yeager told a WSMV-TV reporter that he is “aware of the suspension” but will let his lawyer speak for him from now on.

Then there’s this:

Mr. Yeager has the right to seek review of the department’s decision in the general sessions court of his county of residence or through the Department of Safety and Homeland Security.

Yeah, good luck with that. Let’s see who wants to stick their neck out and be liable if he should get his permit back, and then ends up going out and shooting someone.

Sturmgewehr = assault rifle

For any useful purpose, “Assault Weapon” is legally defined in the law that established the lapsed Assault Weapons Ban.

(For the record, it was fairly useless, banning the tools I would need to mount a bayonet charge against a highschool.)

Teen charged with killing sister, 15, over video game

A 19-year-old Milwaukee man was charged Friday with fatally shooting his 15-year-old sister during an argument over a cellphone video game.

According to the criminal complaint:
Police arrived at a home in the 1500 block of W. Orchard St. about 4 a.m. Tuesday and discovered Brendalyz Morales in a living room chair, shot in the forehead. At the scene, her brother Miguell Morales-Rodriguez stated: “I shot my sister. I killed my sister.”

In subsequent interviews, the defendant said he had dropped a gun and it fired, striking his sister, then that he had pressed the magazine release button, and the gun fired, striking his sister, and finally, that he had been pointing the gun at his sister, with his finger on the trigger, when he touched the magazine release button it caused his finger to pull the trigger.

According to the complaint, detectives determined the gun was in good working order and that pressing the magazine release could not have caused it to fire.

Actually “sturmgewehr” was coined by Hitler himself, when presented with the rifle and seeing just how revolutionary it was. This was after he’d previously canceled all work on the project and told his generals there would be no rifles, because the Kar 98K was sufficient for the duration of what he figured would be a short war. And despite superficial resemblance, the StG44 and AK-47 have absolutely no connection besides being assault rifles. Finally, “sturmgewehr” is translated as “Storm Rifle,” not “Weapon.”

More like $50,000 each. But they aren’t on the registry so they can’t be imported into the US intact. The receivers would have to be destroyed by torch cuts that destroy, IIRC, 1” of metal. Europeans, with their stricter laws, will ironically be the ones who will get to buy those firearms.

Apparently there’s arms manufacturers out there still producing 7.92 Kurz because the Soviets spread these things far and wide after WWII. First to client states, then to communist rebel groups. No telling how these ended up in a crate in Syria.

David Gregory not going to jail:

No charges over NBC ammo clip display

No employees of NBC will face criminal charges over the display of a high-capacity ammunition magazine on a “Meet the Press” program in violation of local law in Washington, prosecutors told the network on Friday.

The capital city’s attorney general, Irvin Nathan, said in a letter to NBC there would be no charges, but added that it was “a very close decision.”

Anti-gay activist guilty of child pornography

A New Hampshire lawyer who works with a virulently anti-gay Christian-right organization has been found guilty of child pornography charges after videotaping her own daughter having sex with two men on multiple occasions.

Lisa Biron, 43, of Manchester faces a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison after a jury convicted her yesterday. The jury deliberated for less than an hour.
…..
John Aravosis at Americablog found that she had been a member of the ADF “Honor Corps,” the group created to recognize allied attorneys who complete 450 hours of pro bono service for the group…
…..

The ADF claims that homosexuality on college campuses leads to pedophilia, and that homosexuality and pedophilia “are intrinsically linked,” a falsehood long perpetuated by the anti-gay right to demonize LGBT people.

They made the glaringly obvious right call. Of course no charges.

“Close decision”? I find that to be mere posturing. Reasonable doubt was established when the staff was misinformed by L.E. If that law has no room for intent, as in a journalist trying to prevent more gun deaths with good solid public information, it’s a poorly worded law.

Possession of a magazine in the complete absence of a gun for pure journalistic purposes is not any threat to public safety at all. Unless it’s opposite day again already.

Of course DC is one of the few places where a gun law has been found to actually violate the second amendment. “Close decision” sounds like city bureaucracy ego to me.

Each had an assault weapon slung over his shoulder.
